Bangkok, August 28, 2024—Director-General Sudruetai of the Public Relations Department (PRD) of Thailand was the only executive from Asia invited to deliver a keynote address at the 2024 Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road. In her speech, she emphasized the ongoing collaboration between PRD and Chinese media and the importance of fostering mutual understanding between the peoples of both nations.

Five Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with Chinese media partners underpin the collaboration, facilitating information exchange in line with the Belt and Road Initiative. Director-General Sudruetai underscored the significance of these partnerships in promoting accurate information and combating misinformation.

PRD is adapting to serve its audience better as the media landscape continues to evolve. The department has launched several new media platforms, including the Thailand.go.th website, available in five languages—English, Thai, Japanese, German, and Chinese. Additionally, PRD has introduced PRDEE OTT for online video content and Facebook pages such as NBT World and PR Thai Government, all designed to serve as trusted sources of information for global audiences.

The conference, which runs from August 28 to September 1, 2024, features two main activities: the Belt and Road Media Cooperation Conference, which aims to enhance global media cooperation and networking, and field activities exploring China’s lifestyle, traditions, culture, and developmental advancements.

Organized by People’s Daily, which also has an office in Bangkok, the event reflects the strong media partnership between PRD and the publication. People’s Daily is pivotal in disseminating information about Thailand-China cooperation in both English and Chinese, thereby increasing awareness and understanding of Thai government policies among international audiences, particularly in China.

Director-General Sudruetai’s participation in this forum marks a significant step in strengthening global media ties. It underscores PRD’s commitment to being a reliable, fact-checked source of information in the digital age.
