NRNA International Coordination Council (ICC) Makes 11 Key Decisions in a Crucial Meeting

Kathmandu – The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) International Coordination Council (ICC) convened an important meeting on August 17, 2024, under the leadership of Central Chairman Dr. Badri KC and General Secretary Gauri Joshi. The meeting was attended by representatives from central, regional, and national councils, and it addressed several critical issues concerning the global Nepali diaspora. The council made 11 key decisions during the meeting, which are outlined below:

1. Vote of Thanks and Proposal:

The meeting passed a resolution expressing gratitude to all contributors and participants. It also decided to form a working committee to prepare reports on the newly elected ICC from the 11th General Convention.

2. Strategic Decisions and General Convention:

The council approved strategic resolutions and confirmed that the upcoming General Convention will be held as planned. Discussions were also held on addressing global challenges faced by the Nepali community.

3. Special Event on ‘NRNA Day’ 2024:

A special event on ‘NRNA Day’ 2024 will be organized in Kathmandu, focusing on critical issues affecting non-resident Nepalis. The event will feature discussions and contributions from prominent figures.

4. Delegation of Additional Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities will be allocated to IES members based on their expertise. Further details will be discussed in upcoming meetings.

5. Regional and National Council Cooperation:

The council emphasized the importance of enhanced collaboration between regional centers and national councils to address the needs of Nepalis living abroad effectively.

6. Participation in National-Level Competitions:

The NRNA will encourage and support participation in national-level competitions, providing platforms for Nepali youths abroad to connect with their roots and showcase their talents.

7. Focus on Bangladeshi Affairs:

The council decided to assign Vice-Chairperson Roshan Thapa the responsibility of focusing on issues related to the Bangladeshi community.

8. Nepali Citizenship and Advocacy:

The meeting emphasized the need to protect the citizenship rights of non-resident Nepalis and ensure their voices are heard in matters of national interest. The council pledged to continue advocating for their rights.

9. Nepal Investment and Tourism Promotion:

The council resolved to increase efforts to promote investment and tourism in Nepal by engaging with the global Nepali community and international stakeholders.

10. Political Participation:

The meeting reaffirmed the importance of involving NRNA members in political processes to influence decisions affecting the diaspora.

11. Strengthening Unity and Coordination:

The NRNA will focus on strengthening internal unity, enhancing communication, and ensuring effective implementation of its programs and initiatives.
